|Wednesday, January 02 2013|
If speaking in front of a crowd makes you nervous, you won’t want to miss this upcoming guest day event for the Daybreakers’ Toastmasters club (a public club that happens to meet at the University of Rochester Medical Center, 601 Elmwood Avenue). The group is eager to help you hone your speaking and leadership skills.
For a taste of just how fun and rewarding Toastmasters can be, check out this special morning meeting from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, in the Medical Center's School of Medicine & Dentistry, Louise Slaughter Conference Room (room 1-9555).
Toastmasters offers a fun, low-pressure learning experience that uses a proven methodology to improve your presentation skills. Toastmasters also provides an inexpensive (membership is $90/year, and includes all materials) opportunity to:
* Communicate more effectively
* Become a better listener
* Increase your leadership potential
* Grow your ability to motivate and persuade others
* Increase your self-confidence

AIf you want to know more about health care reform, here’s a simple suggestion: Grab a cup of coffee with someone in IT.
See, reform can’t happen on paper. Its ideas are too lofty, too complex. They’re only achievable with smart technologies—and such infrastructure only gets built if a small army of really smart people scramble to help bring the vision to fruit.
